Note about the artist! I realized early on in my life that I have a special love for Art. Ever since, I experimented with various forms of expression in different oils and themes, until I settled for this latest form of Abstract Symbolism. The combination of my art studies and graduate degree in Psychology helped to bring out what I have been searching for all along. I started diligently studying and practicing art about seven years ago in Geneva, Switzerland, and continued to enhance my skills at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota during the last three years. Only recently have I decided to show my art to the public, as I needed to achieve comfort with my own school of thought first. The unique feature of my art is the striking manifestation of my detailed work when the canvas is inserted in a backlit, boxed frame. Many admirers commented that it reminded them of Chegall’s glasswork. When lit, the painting’s glowing colors and masked images can be identified more clearly and makes a great decorative light feature in any room. This skill allows me the unique ability to apply my carefully chosen colors only once for every stroke. Abstract Symbolism, as I refer to my art, expresses the inspiration and the spiritual connection with great artists whom I studied, and who left an eternal imprint of the unique attributes that these artists became so identified with, and created their fame. When I get inspired to paint, I approach the canvas and color selection with no fear. Then I proceed to execute what I feel is being communicated to me by the guidance of these great artists. Chegall influences the color choice and combination, while Picasso inflences the absrtract and masqued images of human beings, and Hussein, the famous Indian artist, triggers the spiritual depth of a painting that turns human beings into human souls that are still alive and continue to enjoy the beauty of this planet in an invisible, and/or a symbolic form. For me, to paint is to connect with the inner self. This connection synchronizes all my faculties with one focus, to create the colors, images and messages that I clearly see in my inner soul. The fact that I can relate to the present human life by expressing it as an eternal soul, is a great source of satisfaction and joy that I wish upon all human beings. Perhaps that is the essence of my talent. Perhaps that will separate me from other forms of art? My philosophy is that our physical departure as a human body does not end there, or answer the question why we are here. It is the transition into a continual process of evolution that allows our eternal souls to feel free and recognize that it is OK to keep evolving. Be it to roam around us in the form of invisible energy, or not, does not matter. What matters, is for Eternity to be manifested in a physical life’s journey and continue to evolve regardless to how many journeys it may take. We are all eternal and that is a good thing to look for and to live for. We never die, and all we need to do is to learn from experiences in this journey and evolve into a greater soul and a happier being regardless to shape, gender or color, regardless to age, life trials or pleasure, we are here to grow and get closer to God, who is the Ultimate source of Love and happiness. The beholder of my art needs to see through the colors and symbols to understand how this expression relates to something within us. The reassurance that we are eternal makes us happy and less afraid of death, thus sure of our own worthiness. My objects are often masked, yet implicit, to accentuate the message behind the work. The colors that are chosen to express my art are enriched by my ability to portray harmony in a natural context. Many have referred to my art as metaphysical and new. Others have enjoyed the discovery of many hidden images within my art, and expressed how "the more they look at it the more the painting grows on them." What matters to me is my attempt to share my vision of divinity in all my objects, be it representatives of the human race, or all other species that cohabitate on this planet, as one field of energy that manifests itself in various shapes and colors. All my themes dwell on the positive aspects of life, with emphasis on the value of togetherness in fostering our individuality. May (Nanoo) Zahr
